Martina Gojčeta Silić

Martina Gojčeta Silić (Zagreb, 1972) is a distinguished Croatian mezzo-soprano and professor of singing with an extensive concert, operatic, and pedagogical career. She graduated in solo singing from the Music Academy of the University of Zagreb in 1998 (class of Prof. Snježana Bujanović Stanislav) and further refined her artistry through numerous masterclasses.

She made her concert debut in 1995 with the Zagreb Philharmonic, performing Mozart’s Requiem under the baton of Kazushi Ōno. Her concert repertoire includes major mezzo-soprano parts ranging from Bach’s Passions and cantatas to Mahler’s symphonies and orchestral song cycles, as well as masses and oratorios by Rossini, Beethoven, Janáček, and Papandopulo, and Requiems by Verdi, Mozart, Saint-Saëns, and Duruflé.

She regularly performs with leading Croatian orchestras and has collaborated with prominent conductors such as Pavle Dešpalj, Vjekoslav Šutej, Vladimir Kranjčević, Daniele Callegari, Emmanuel Villaume, Valery Gergiev, Berislav Klobučar, Ivan Repušić, Ivo Lipanović, Tonči Bilić, and Berislav Šipuš.

She made her operatic debut in 1996 at the Slovenian National Theatre in Maribor in the role of Maddalena (Rigoletto). Among her most notable operatic roles are Marfa (Khovanshchina), Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), and Fenena (Nabucco), among others.

She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Milka Trnina Award, the Vladimir Nazor Award, and five Porin discography awards.
Martina Gojčeta Silić is a full professor at the Department of Vocal Studies of the Music Academy, University of Zagreb, where she has also served for many years as Vice-Dean for International Cooperation and Head of the Vocal Department. As a guest professor, she regularly gives masterclasses and lectures. She is a member of juries at vocal competitions and serves on various professional councils at the university, the national theatre, and the Ministry of Culture. Among her graduates are internationally recognized artists such as mezzo-soprano Sonja Runje and countertenor Franko Klisović.
